Sixers Report Card: Doug Collins

Doug Collins took over a 27-55 team and made them into a .500 team and playoff contenders.

When you look at the additions the Sixers made in the off season it makes this past year all the more remarkable. The Sixers traded away Samuel Dalembert and Willie Green and added Spencer Hawes, Andres Nocioni, Tony Battie, Jodie Meeks and Evan Turner.

With very little to work with Collins implemented a successful system and a culture of hard work and dedication to winning. He has made the Sixers relevant again and has brought basketball back to the city of Philadelphia. The greatest part about Collins' run this past year was the fact that you could tell he enjoyed every minute of it. The players bought in and the Sixers were a true team in every sense. The Sixers went 41-41 and were the 7th seed in the Eastern Conference.

I think an A+ is an appropriate grade for Doug Collins especially when you look at what the Sixers did in the playoffs. The Sixers played the Heat hard in just about every game and were one big shot away from forcing a Game 6. The Sixers easily could have packed things in and called it a successful season but Doug Collins got his guys to play hard and they put up a great effort against a very good team.

I look forward to the future of this young Sixers team led by Coach Collins. I'm already excited for next year and can't wait to see what the Sixers and Collins will accomplish.

Grade: A+
