Rumors are beginning to swirl that Sixers guard Andre Iguodala could be on his way out.
A 9th overall draft pick in 2004, Iguodala's time in Philadelphia has been interesting to say the least. Iggy has recieved heavy criticism mainly because of his mega 80 million dollar 6 year contract he signed back in 2008 and his inability to perform as a superstar.
Now with 3 years and 56 million remaining on his contract the Sixers have appaerently been trying to shop the 27 year old guard to various teams. There are many possible destinations for Andre. He could go to a veteran team like Lakers, Celtics or Spurs or he could go to a young team like Memphis or Oklahoma City and fit right in.
I understand the value that Iguodala brings to this team but at the same time the amount of money he is making for his production is simply absurd. Last year he made well over 12 million and averaged just 14.1 points per game. In my opinion Iguodala is simply not worth 12 million and the Sixers would be better off without him. Relieving the remaining 56 million of Iguodala's contract from the Sixers payroll could open up some possibilities for the Sixers in the future. They would be able to go out and fill some needs as well as resign guys like Thad Young who is now a free agent.
