On the brink of elimination the Flyers will take on the Bruins tonight in Game 4. Although the Flyers came back from 0-3 last year I have to admit that doing it again is going to be extremely difficult. But the Flyers are resilient and will undoubtedly give it their all and at least go down with a fight. Here are the keys to tonight's game.
Good Start- The Flyers fell behind quickly in Game 3 and with 18:57 remaining in the first period the Flyers were already down 2-0. The Flyers need to get off to a good start tonight similar to Game 2. In Game 2 the Flyers scored 2 quick goals in the first period but failed to score in the remainder of the game. Tonight the Flyers have to jump out to an early lead and continue to build on that lead through out the game.
Defense- Sergei Bobrovsky will be in goal tonight and the defense needs to step up and help him out. The defense needs to step up and help out the young goal tender. The poor performance of the defense isn't helping this goalie situation and the Flyers need to step up and find a solution to stopping the Krejci line.
One Game At A Time- The Flyers need to focus solely on Game 4. If they get ahead of themselves and look ahead to Game 5 they will find themselves with an early playoff exit.
Veteran Leadership- The leaders on this team like Richards, Timonen and Briere need to rally these guys and get them fired up. Although they are down they are still in the playoffs and they need to continue to fight and play hard. The window of opportunity for Timonen, Pronger, O'Donnell, Betts and Briere is quickly running out. This is one of the most talented teams they've been on they don't want to lose this opportunity.
Bruins Mind Games- Does a 0-3 hole possibly favor the Flyers? Maybe the Bruins are starting to think about a possible repeat from last year, read about it HERE.
Solving Tim Thomas- The Flyers have got to find a way to put the puck past Thomas who has been outstanding thus far in this series. In order to beat him, the Flyers have to wait him out. Thomas is a goalie like Domonic Hasek in that he is very wild in the net and very aggressive. In order to solve that they need to be patient and wait for him to make the first move. Also he is playing with a lot of confidence right now so he is making saves at the top or just outside of the crease. If the Flyers can get him moving, he could be forced out of position which could result in a few Flyers goals.
