Who Should The Phils Get?

Over the past couple of weeks I've heard a long list of guys that the Phillies have reportedly been interesting in acquiring at the deadline. From Heath Bell to Carlos Beltran the Phils have been linked to a multitude of players from several teams. In case you're getting confused/frustrated with all of the rumors, here is a list (mostly from mlbtraderumors.com) of guys the Phils may add at the deadline.

Carlos Beltran: It's all over the radio, all over TV and it's been talked about on just about every sports web site. The Phils would definitely have to surrender some top prospects in exchange for Beltran. Vance Worley, Domonic Brown and others have been suggested in this deal.

Hunter Pence: I proposed this trade back in late June saying the Phils should be open to the idea of trading Domonic Brown to add Pence. The Phils have dealt with the Astros in the past and it would be great to add a guy like Pence who is hitting .316 with 11 HR and 61 RBI's. Last night during the game Jim Salisbury reported that Hunter Pence is the Phils top trade target. I will have more on the proposed Pence trade later as it seems to be gaining some steam.

Melky Cabrera: The former Yankee is currently playing for the Kansas City Royals where he is hitting .294 with 12 HR and 54 RBI's. Cabrera is cheap and the Phils probably wouldn't have to give up as much to get him. Also by electing to go after Cabrera the Phils could also try and go after another player like a relief pitcher.

Heath Bell: This trade has certainly lost a lot of steam. Last week Buster Olney reported that the Phils were front runners to land a San Diego reliever but in the past few days I haven't hear much surrounding this deal.

While there are still a ton of other guys being rumored as possible acquisitions, these are the main guys the Phils are looking to get. The next week is going to be filled all sorts of deals and I can't wait to see how it shakes out for the Phils.
