Eagles Sign Babin

He was on my free agency wish list and clearly he was a guy the Eagles were targeting. Today it was announced that the Eagles have agreed to terms with pro bowler defensive end Jason Babin. The deal is reportedly a 5 year contract but it won't be official until Friday night.

The former Eagle recorded 12.5 sacks last year for the Tenessee Titans. Babin credits a lot of his success to his defensive line coach Jim Washburn. Now Washburn and Babin are reunited in Philadelphia and will look to wreak havoc on opposing offenses.

I really like this signing as Babin is a guy I wanted the Eagles to get to help the pass rush. And although the value of the deal hasn't been released, I feel that the Birds got him for a relatively cheap price. Going into the season the Birds now have 2 pro bowler defensive ends. Look for the pass rush of Trent Cole and Jason Babin to open up the entire defense and pressure opposing quarterbacks into bad decisions.

And according to multiple reports, the Kevin Kolb trade could come within the next few hours. Stay updated to the blog for all your Eagles off season news and analysis.
