Sixers Re-Sign Hawes

The Philadelphia 76ers have officially signed Spencer Hawes to a one year deal worth $4.6 million. By signing this deal Hawes will become an unrestricted free agent next season. We all know what kind of player Hawes is so thankfully they didn't sign Hawes long term and only have one more season of him left. It is expected that Spencer will start at the center position again this year. His spot in the starting lineup could be in jeopardy if rookie Nikola Vucevic shows that he can be more productive at the center position. We can only hope for this because I can only deal with doses of Spencer Hawes and his inconsistent play. With the signing of Hawes the Sixers now have 14 guys under contract for the upcoming season. It is being rumored that the Sixers are actively shopping big man Marreese Speights and it seems inevitable that Speights will not be in a Sixer uniform this season. Hopefully Hawes got tougher over the long offseason and improved his game to a level where he can compete defensively against some the better centers in the league, because that would be a huge addition to this Sixers team.

  1. Id rather have Phil E. Moose at center, Hawes is a joke
