Flyers Bruins Preview

The Flyers will have to put all of their off the ice distractions aside as they attempt to gear up for an afternoon game today at the Wells Fargo Center against the hated Boston Bruins.  The rivalry between the Bruins and Flyers dates back a long way, but over the past few years the rivalry has definitely been renewed and intensified due to some key playoff matchups.  After the Flyers came back from a 3 games to none deficit in 2010, last year the Bruins got revenge and swept the Flyers in the Eastern Conference semi-finals en-route to the Stanley Cup.

This will be the second time the two teams meet this year as the Flyers won the season opener against the Bruins 2-1.  The Bruins are currently in the midst of a 3 game winning streak; their most recent win being a 5-2 victory over the Ottawa Senators.  Meanwhile the Flyers are on a very impressive 7 game winning streak.

With 41 points, the Bruins trail the Flyers by just two points for the conference lead, and today the two teams will battle it out for the conference crown.  Simply put, this would be an enormous win for the Flyers.  While a 7 game winning streak is definitely impressive, a big win against your rival with the conference lead on the line is perhaps even more impressive.

Hopefully the Flyers can come together today as a team as they have done so well in the past couple of weeks.  No matter what obstacle is thrown their way, it seems like the Flyers always come together as a team and find a way to get the win.

I'm expecting a big game from goalie Ilya Bryzgalov as well as great individual performances from Talbot, Jagr, and Simmonds.  I think the Flyers will win 4-2 and retain their spot as best in the Eastern conference.
