Phillies Resign Jimmy Rollins

According to Jerry Crasnick of ESPN.com,

"Jimmy Rollins has agreed to 3-year deal with #Phillies with vesting option for 4th year, says BB source.  Rollins didn't have much leverage with Phillies. The Brewers made an offer, but he ultimately wanted to stay home."

Last time I posted about Jimmy re-signing, the rumor turned out to be false. But Jerry, a writer for ESPN.com, seems to be a credible source and this seems like a legitimate deal.  And unlike last time, this deal has been confirmed by both Todd Zolecki and Jim Salisbury.

I was kind of on the fence about whether or not I wanted Jimmy back.  While he is one of my favorite Phillies, I  was kind of hoping that the Phils would change the makeup of their team and give the lineup a new look.  But ultimately I'm totally in favor of Rollins staying in Philadelphia.  He is the spark and motor of this team, and he is still defensively one of the best short stops in the league.

Also according to Jerry Crasnick,

"The Philadelphia Phillies have reached agreement with shortstop Jimmy Rollins on a three-year, $33 million contract, according to a baseball source.  The contract also contains a vesting option for a fourth year worth $11 million, the source said."

Welcome home Jimmy.
