Eagles Finishing With Honor

The scenarios are done.  Mathematically our beloved Eagles are eliminated from the playoffs and you can officially stick a fork in them.  But even though this year was a major disappointment and the Eagles didn't even reach the post season, you have to love how they are finishing the season.

After receiving the news that the Giants had defeated the Jets and their playoff hopes were done, the Eagles very easily could have come out and given in against the Cowboys.  They could have packed it in and taken the easy way out.  But they didn't give up and they played their way to a 20-7 victory.

Sunday's game was a microcosm of the Eagles season.  Even when everything was stacked against them, the Eagles still played hard to the end.  While there were definitely some games this season in which fans and experts truly questioned the effort of the Eagles, there is no questioning the heart surrounding this team in these final few games.

And even if the Eagles lose this Sunday to the Redskins, this little win streak here at the end all but solidifies Andy's return to the Eagles for at least one more year.  The Eagles definitely have a solid foundation of players, and with a few upgrades at key positions, they could very easily be Super Bowl contenders come next season.

At this point you  are probably tired of hearing about the "shortened off season effect".  But given the way the Eagles are playing here at the end, there is no questioning that the shortened preparation time definitely had some affect on the Eagles' early struggles.  The verdict is still out on how good this team can be with a full off season of preparation.

So even though the Eagles won't make the playoffs, they are at least playing hard in these final few games and giving us all something to look forward to.  Hopefully the Eagles can carry their recent success into next season.
