More bad news for Flyers fans. On top of Pronger's uncertainty, today Flyers GM Paul Holmgren remarked on the status of Claude Giroux:
"Claude reported not feeling very good today. Over the past few days, his symptoms have gradually gotten worse. He will be out indefinitely with a concussion"
This really couldn't have come at a more inconvenient time. While there is never a "good time" to lose your top goal scorer, Giroux's injury comes just when the Flyers were beginning to really click on all cylinders. The offense was playing good, the defense was strengthening, and the Flyers had pieced together a five game winning streak to show for it.
The Flyers will definitely face their toughest challenge of this season as they attempt to adjust to hockey without both Chris Pronger and Giroux. Bryzgalov, Timonen, Briere, and Jagr are just some of the guys that are going to have to play even better with the departure of Giroux. And maybe Giroux's injury will give JVR more opportunities. While JVR certainly hasn't been bad this year, he has had a pretty quiet season while guys like Jagr and Giroux have seemingly stolen the show.
One thing the Flyers have is a lot of depth, and I think they will do just fine without the services of Claude Giroux.
Who the hell is "Girous"?
