Fear The D-Line

They come at you from every which angle. When you’re down in the dirt, they kick you in the stomach. And just when you think you have a moment to set your feet and throw the ball, you get smacked in the mouth.

Meet the Eagles defensive line. Trent Cole, Cullen Jenkins, Jason Babin, and role players like Darryl Tapp, Antonio Dixen, and Phillip Hunt are going to wreak havoc on opposing quarterbacks all season.

Led by defensive line specialist coach Jim Washburn, the defensive line is focused solely on accelerating off the ball and swarming and suffocating the quarterback with pressure from every angle.

It won’t just be 4 guys that make up the defensive line. Washbrun will utilize a lot of guys and have a rotation of lineman trying to get pressure on the quarterback. By having a rotation guys can come into the game fresh and rested and be able to overpower and speed by tired offensive lineman.

As good as the secondary is projected to be, I think the defensive line is going to be the strong point of the defense this season. I think Cullen Jenkins, Trent Cole, and Jason Babin are all going to be pro-bowlers while I also see another role player having a big year as well.

The defensive line will also have to make up for the lack of talent at linebacker.

So far in pre season the defensive line has looked great. They have gotten great pressure on opposing quarterbacks and will look to carry that success over to the regular season.
