Sixers Take Sixth Seed

On Friday night, the Sixers buried the Sacramento Kings 102-80 and in doing so captured the sixth seed in the Eastern conference. Just about everyone got in on the action as Doug Collins used his bench and balanced offensive attack to down the Kings. Jrue Holiday lead the Sixers with 15 points to go along with 9 rebounds and 5 assists. Andre Iguodala also had a big night with 13 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists. Now that the Sixers have a half game lead over the Knicks for the 6th seed, they will now focus their efforts on catching the Atlanta Hawks who have a 3 game lead over the Sixers for the 5th seed. The Sixers have little time to rest as they get set to face the Portland Trail Blazers tonight at 10:00 pm. At 39-29, Portland is a solid team and should prove to be a good test for the surging Sixers. The Sixers will have to contain Lemarcus Aldridge who is leading Portland in scoring this season with over 22 ppg. The Sixers will also face former Sixer Andre Miller who is averaging 13 points and 7 assists per game this year. If the Sixers can pull out a victory tonight they will end this road trip at 3-2. The Sixers started this road trip 0-2, losing to the Bucks and Jazz, but have rebounded nicely in their last 2 games. I think the Sixers will play hard tonight and have just enough left in the tank to grind out a close win. The Sixers will be without Iguodala tonight who will not play due to his injured leg.
