High Hopes For 2011

Ever since the Phillies won the World Series in 2008, they have been adding different players in an effort to bring this city another championship. The Phillies have shown they are dedicated to winning by signing the right players and making the necessary trades in order to improve the team. This was first seen in the middle of 2009, when the Phillies traded for ace Cliff Lee to help them in the playoffs. The Phils lost to the Yankees in the series and came up short of a championship even with the addition of Cliff Lee. The Phils continued their dedication to winning during the off season between 2009 and 2010 when they traded Cliff Lee for prospects and brought in Roy Halladay. The Phils also signed Placido Polanco, and at the All Star break traded for Roy Oswalt but still came up short in the playoffs falling to the Giants in the NLCS. During the past off season the Phils signed Cliff Lee and with Lee's return come extremely high expectations for the upcoming season. Although the Phils will be without the services of Jayson Werth this year, they boast one of the best starting rotations in the history of baseball. The amount of injuries during spring training is an obvious concern, but the Phils showed last year that they can battle through injuries. The Phils were able to overcome injury after injury last season and still recorded the best record in baseball. The Phils bats are going to get their runs and this rotation is going to come through. I expect the Phils to win 110 games plus and of course win the World Series. Tomorrow at 1:00, the Phils will begin their quest towards another World Series title. Roy Halladay will take the mound against former Phillie Brett Myers. Hopefully the Phils can get a victory and start this season on a high note.
