Sixers Blast Rockets

After coming off a great win against the Eastern Conference leading Bulls, the Sixers followed that performance tonight with a 108-97 victory over the Houston Rockets.

It was important for the Sixers to come out focused after such an emotional win on Monday night in Chicago. The Sixers did a good job of taking care of business against a mediocre Rockets team. The Sixers were led by Jrue Holiday and Thad Young who had 24 and 22 points respectively. Thad Young had his second strong game in a row after a bad game on Sunday against the Kings. Jrue Holiday continues to play well and did a good job tonight of driving to the basket and getting high percentage shots. Holiday also did a great job of getting his teammates involved and finished with 12 assists enough for a double double. Tonight the Sixers also did a real nice job of getting Elton Brand and Spencer Hawes involved offensively. Lou Williams and Jodie Meeks both reached double figures for the Sixers tonight.

It was important that the Sixers not come out flat and this win shows that the veteran leadership of guys like Elton Brand and Andre Iguodala is definitely strong and that is so vital especially to such a young team.

Looking ahead, the Sixers will host the New Jersey Nets on Friday night at 7:00 PM.
