Ovechkin Out

In tomorrow night's crucial Eastern conference match up between the Flyers and Capitals, the Capitals will be with out their star player Alex Ovechkin who will be sidelined for the next 7-10 days due to nagging injuries. With 29 goals on the season, Ovechkin is the Caps' leading scorer and a major part of their offense. Tomorrow night is going to be a big statement game for the Flyers who haven't had a real decisive win since March 8th. The Flyers are 4-6 in their last 10 games and the surging Capitals have been taking advantage. The Capitals have been playing extremely well going 9-1 in their last 10 and are currently just 2 points behind the Flyers for first place. It will be interesting to see who the Flyers will start in goal in tomorrow night's playoff like game. Will they choose Sergei Bobrovsky who had an outstanding game Saturday night? Or will they side with veteran Brian Boucher who played well in the big games last year? Defensively, look for Andrej Meszaros and Braydon Coburn to step up in Pronger's absence. Both defensemen are playing extremely well and will need to continue to play strong tomorrow night in order for the Flyers to win. Look for Briere, Carter and Giroux to keep things going offensively. Hopefully they can be aggressive early and give this defense a lead to work with. Tomorrow night is going to be a great opportunity for the Flyers to reaffirm their spot at the top of the Eastern conference. They have been struggling since the All-Star break and many hockey fans and experts are beginning to doubt the Flyers chances. If the Flyers can come out and get a big decisive win, they would be sending a message that they are still the best.
