People are finally starting to respect the Sixers. Last night the Sixers beat the 5th seeded Hawks 105-100 in an important Eastern conference game with playoff implications. The win puts the Sixers just 2.5 games behind the Hawks for the 5th seed. Lou Williams, Thad Young, Jrue Holiday, Jodie Meeks, Spencer Hawes, Elton Brand, and Andre Iguodala were all in double figures for the Sixers. Thad Young provided a late game spark for the Sixers getting things done offensively and making plays on defense. The Sixers also got a lot of production out of Jodie Meeks who was on fire from 3 pt land. Meeks had 15 points and was 5-6 from 3 point range. Jrue Holiday and Lou Williams also shot the 3 ball well, and as a team the Sixers were 10-18 from 3 point range. After having a day off on Saturday due to his leg inury, Andre Iguodala logged a lot of minutes and battled through ending up with 16 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists.
Overall it was a good win for the Sixers who are starting to gain some respect around the league. The Sixers showed their resilience in the victory battling back from an 11 point 3rd quarter deficit. Hopefully the Sixers can keep up the strong play as we head into the final stretch of the season.
The next test for the Sixers will come tomorrow night as they travel to Miami to take on the Heat. If the season were to end today, the Sixers would play the third seeded Heat in the playoffs. Tomorrow night could be a playoff preview and a good opportunity to see how the Sixers compete with the boys from South Beach.
