The stage is set tonight for an epic Game 7 between the Sabres and Flyers.
The Flyers battled back on Sunday to force overtime and eventually won off Villie Leino's extra session goal. The Flyers showed resiliency and determination on Sunday just like they did during last year's Stanley Cup run.
Tonight the goalie carousel stops on Brian Boucher who has already been announced as the starter. Boucher had a bad game 5 but filled in nicely for the Flyers in game 6 after Leighton failed to get the job done. Personally I like Boucher in net. I think he is a veteran with a lot of experience and he gives the guys around him a lot of confidence.
Tonight the Flyers need to do better on the power play. The success of the Flyers power play depends greatly on the availability of Chris Pronger. Pronger played just 4:33 in game 6, all of his time coming on the man advantage. When Pronger was on the ice the Flyers were able to get set up better and you could just see the rest of the team settle down.
In order to win tonight the Flyers need to do a better job of taking care of the puck, especially in their own zone. The Flyers need to limit their turnovers and make better decisions with the puck.
The Flyers also need to create more traffic in front of Miller. The Flyers need to put a lot of pressure on Miller and not let him get comfortable. The Flyers need to capitalize on any rebounds that bounce back into the slot and someone has to be there to score.
It's going to be an absolute battle tonight. Overtime would not surprise me as these are clearly 2 evenly matched teams. I expect the Flyers to win and I expect the crowd at the Wells Fargo Center to play a big factor in tonight's game. With all our will, we will.
