Doug Collins Stays Positive

People get mad at me all the time because I am a Philly Sports optimist.

No matter what the odds, I continually think that my beloved Sixers, Phillies, Flyers and Eagles will win their respective championships.

Although maybe not as extreme, Doug Collins brings a similar mentality to this young Sixers group. How else can you explain the Sixers Game 4 performance? The Sixers very easily could have been satisfied with their season and packed it in. They went from winning 27 games in 2009-10 to winning 41 this past season. The Sixers could have said this Heat team is just too good, we can't beat them.

But Doug Collins encouraged his guys to dig deep and continue to fight. He brought out the best performance from his guys in the lowest and most dire of times. Collins had this to say before Sunday's game:
“I’m a very stubborn guy and I feel as long as we’re in the game, we have a chance to win. That’s what we’ve preached all season long. That’s what we’ll continue to preach."

Doug Collins' positive attitude is rubbing off on the other guys on this team. The Sixers are playing extremely relaxed and on Sunday they didn't look like a team that was down 3 games to 0. They instead looked like a team that has nothing to lose and a team that is going to continue to fight to the very last minute.

Right now the Sixers are not a satisfied team. They are a hungry team that doesn't want to go home. I truly believe that the Sixers enjoy playing and enjoy being part of a young success story. On Wednesday I expect Collins and the Sixers to come out with a lot of energy and do everything they can to prolong this season.
