Flyers Finish Busy Stretch With Winter Classic Preview

Today the Flyers will finish up a stretch of 3 games in 4 days as they travel to New York to take on the Rangers in a Winter Classic preview.

The Flyers kicked off their busy stretch with a 4-3 win on Wednesday night vs the Islanders.  Down 3-1, the Flyers battled back and forced overtime.  In the extra session, Scott Hartnell got called for a stupid hooking call that gave the Islanders a 4 on 3 man advantage that the Flyers somehow survived.  Bobrovsky had some nice saves and as soon as he was free from the penalty box, Hartnell passed the puck to Danny Briere who ripped a shot from the slot past Dipietro for the game winner.

After stepping in for Bryzgalov and stopping all the shots he faced against the Islanders, Bobrovsky got the start yesterday and helped the Flyers to a 3-1 victory over the Montreal Canadiens.  The Flyers trailed 1-0 going into the second period, but Claude Giroux had 2 goals and Voracek had a goal as well in the 2nd period to give the Flyers a 3-1 lead which they held on to.

Today the Flyers will cap off their busy stretch as they give hockey fans a Winter Classic preview vs the Rangers.  While the game may not be outdoors,  it will still feature two teams that hate each other's guts.  The Rangers are 4 points behind the Flyers and will definitely be trying to make up some ground.  While the Flyers come into the game with a 2 game winning streak, the Rangers come in having just beaten the Washington Capitals yesterday 6-3.

The matchup between the Flyers and Rangers should definitely make for an entertaining afternoon of hockey.
