All About Shady

The absolute key to beating the Packers this weekend is running the football. The question is whether or not Andy is willing to differ from his usual "pass happy" offense in favor of more balanced approach. Let's face the facts, the Packers have a great defense that will surely bring the blitz. The easiest way to combat the blitz is buy setting up the run game and running right by the blitzers. I think in addition to getting McCoy his touches, the Eagles need to allow Vick to run more often. I know that he is injured and banged up and that having him run is just too risky, but when you look at that miraculous comeback vs the Giants, the only reason the Eagles were able to get back into that game was because Vick started to run the ball for 20-30 yards at a time. When the defense brings more guys in the box to spy against Vick and prevent him from running, that's when the passing game really opens up. Another key to winning against the Packers is the screen game. The Eagles are one of the best screen play teams in the NFL and yet they do it so rarely. The screen is so perfect because it's an easy way to get the ball out of there quickly and combat the blitz, and when you have a guy like Shady McCoy to throw the ball to it makes it all the more dangerous. He has the ability to break it open for a 35-40 yard gain. Run the ball with Vick and McCoy and utilize the screen game and the "big plays" to DeSean Jackson and Jeremy Maclin will happen and the Birds will win this game easily. It's going to be a close game no doubt, but I feel that Michael Vick is a man on a mission, and anything short of a Super Bowl title for number 7 is going to be an utter disappointment.
